DESCRIPTION:Echoes Across Latitudes: Geographies of Grief & Joy\n\n\n\nFeaturing: Ashley E Lazarre\, Amanda Shea\, Malaika Ogukwe\, Marian Taylor Brown\n\n\n\nSeptember 29 – October 3\, 2026\n\n\n\nCelebration & Open Mic: Friday\, Oct 2nd | 5-8P\n\n\n\nTea & Ancestral Altar: Saturday\, Oct 3rd 2-5P\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMore About Echoes Across Latitudes: Geographies of Grief & Joy \n\n\n\nEchoes Across Latitudes: Geographies of Grief & Joy features multi-media artists Amanda Shea\, Malaika Ogukwe\, Ashley E Lazarre and Marian Taylor Brown\, who invite the many textures of grief and joy to emerge as they navigate their respective journeys and tell their unique yet inextricably interconnected stories. Embodying and practicing with community\, artists will activate the Greensboro Project Space galleries\, creating public work daily for the week-long in-process exhibition. This honors the iterative\, and at times circular\, nature of grief\, inviting the artists to embodiment as they create with one another and the wider UNCG community.  \n\n\n\nA multi-modal community celebration will take place on Friday\, October 2nd from 5-8pm\, featuring an Open Mic in collaboration with the Divine Drops starting at 7pm.  \n\n\n\nA grief ritual and ancestral honoring will take place on Saturday\, October 3rd\, a closed practice for the participating artists\, followed by a Community Altar and Tea from 2-5 pm\, open to the public.  \n\n\n\nMore About the Artists \n\n\n\nAshley E Lazarre \n\n\n\nAshley is a creative and scholar who focuses on the representation of Black womanhood through fashion\, storytelling\, and digital media. \n\n\n\nLearn more: IG @_aelle_ \n\n\n\nAmanda Shea \n\n\n\nAmanda is an interdisciplinary\, Emmy-nominated and multi-award-winning poet\, educator and curator. \n\n\n\nLearn more: IG @amandasheaallday \n\n\n\nMalaika Ogukwe \n\n\n\nMalaika is a multidisciplinary artist and consultant\, centeirng well-being\, somatic movement\, and healing-centered leadership. SUMMARY:Clarence Morgan
DESCRIPTION:Falk Visiting Artist Talk: Clarence Morgan\n\n\n\n\n\n\nClarence “Morgan” Morgan is an American abstract painter whose work spans painting\, drawing\, printmaking\, and an ongoing reflective writing practice. Rooted in gesture\, intuition\, and process\, his work explores shifting relationships between order and improvisation. Through pattern\, repetition\, and fluid mark-making\, Morgan examines perceptual experience and the ways visual systems echo larger questions of time\, space\, and the natural and cosmic world.  \n\n\n\nMorgan’s paintings\, drawings\, and prints have been exhibited nationally and internationally\, with works represented in numerous public and private collections including the Cleveland Museum of Art\, the Walker Art Center\, the Minneapolis Institute of Art\, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts\, and the Frederick R. Weisman Art Museum. His recent and current representation includes GF Contemporary (Santa Fe) and Todd Bockley Gallery (Minneapolis).  \n\n\n\nHe has produced editions at Tamarind Institute (Albuquerque)\, Highpoint Center for Printmaking (Minneapolis)\, Brandywine Workshop (Philadelphia)\, and the Patton Printmaking Studio at Anderson Ranch Arts Center (Snowmass\,   \n\n\n\nColorado). Morgan has received major fellowships from the Bush Foundation\, Jerome Foundation\, McKnight Foundation\, and the Minnesota State Arts Board\, among others.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn 2025 Morgan was selected as an Invited Visiting Artist at the American Academy in Rome\, a residency that extends his ongoing investigations into abstraction\, phenomenology\, cosmology\, and the embodied experience of mark-making. His parallel writing practice—composed of notes\, essays\, and studio reflections—further articulates the metaphysical and perceptual concerns that inform his visual work.  \n\n\n\nMorgan has held teaching and visiting artist appointments at numerous institutions including Yale University\, Cooper Union\, Cranbrook Academy of Art\, Stanford University\, and the University of Minnesota\, where he served as Department Chair from 2004 to 2010 and is currently Head of Drawing/Painting. He lives and works in Chicago.  \n\n\n\nFree and open to the public. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn addition to public presentations\, artists in the UCLS series have important interactions with UNCG students\, such as holding masterclasses\, talkback sessions\, and seminars\, often just hours before performing on stage. Thanks to a grant from The Cemala Foundation\, some of these artists also work with K-12 students in the Guilford County Schools.
