SUMMARY:The Death Show: An art exhibition
DESCRIPTION:The Death Show\n\n\n\n Featuring Paige Cox\, Leanne Pizio\, and Peter Schroth\n\n\n\nOctober 22 – November 2\, 2024\n\n\n\nReception: November 1st\, 2024 | 6-8P\n\n\n\nMore About The Death Show \n\n\n\nThe sneaky thing about life is that it includes and requires death. \n\n\n\nAs adults\, usually not a day goes by without a thought or two about an impending end. And as we get older and our loved ones start crossing over to the other side\, we find ourselves dealing with death and all the bells and whistles that go along with that incredibly massive topic.  It is an experience that awaits us all.We invite you to come see how three Greensboro artists interpret DEATH.  Please join us and come share your stories that might help all of us relate to one another in this big fragile world we call Life. \n\n\n\nMore About the Artists \n\n\n\nPaige CoxAs a fiber artist\, I love to play with color and texture. It has always been a passion of mine to incorporate humor into my work as well. I have worked as a textile artist my whole life experimenting with weaving\, tapestry\, embroidery\, felting and now tufting. I enjoy manipulating materials\, incorporating reused items\, and everyday objects in my pieces. My hope is that my creations make a space brighter and lighter. \n\n\n\nFollow on IG:@paigecox_art \n\n\n\nLeanne PizioIf you can imagine a thing\, no matter how big or small\, you can make it out of clay. Clay is a living medium\, one that can be seduced into anything the heart desires and that makes working in clay not only fascinating but also challenging. \n\n\n\nWhen approaching the work\, my mind tends to see things in a series. I like to build multiple sculptures that pile together to make another vision. \n\n\n\nFollow on IG:@leannepiziosartPeter SchrothWhen we cut away all the excess\, block out all the distractions\, sort the clutter\, turn off all the noise…when we boil it down to a single fundamental unit\, what are we left with? What actually matters?LOVE.My work is about love\, but it’s also about the lack of love.  It’s about the want and the need of love.  The acceptance and rejection of love.  The beauty and the ugliness.  The laughter and the tears.  Everything\, all the time…it’s all fueled by Love. And then there is Death. \n\n\n\nFollow on IG: @peterschrothart \n\n\n\nLearn more: www.PeterEric.com \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nGreensboro Project Space Weekly Gallery Hours: \n\n\n\nTuesday – Friday\, 12 -5 PM \n\n\n\nSaturday\, 2-5PM

SUMMARY:Jonathan Golove\, cello and theremin cello
DESCRIPTION:Cellist-composer Jonathan Golove presents a program of works for cello and theremin cello\, featuring fellow composer-instrumentalists and UNCG faculty Mark Engebretson (alto saxophone) and Alejandro Rutty (electric bass). \n\n\n\nIn addition to original works composed by each performer\, Golove will play Philip Glass’s monumental Songs and Poems (2007) and the “Louange à l’Éternité de Jésus” from Olivier Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time\, in a new arrangement for theremin cello and six-string electric bass. \n\n\n\nThe theremin cello\, an exceedingly rare instrument which calls upon the technique of the cellist to harness electronic sound without any actual strings\, was invented by Lev Termen (aka Leon Theremin)\, more commonly known for his space-controlled theremin or etherphone. \n\n\n\n\nDownload Program
