Nick Beerman\, a young writer and dramaturg is tasked with helping Forest complete his life’s work before the clock runs out. Selah must fight for control of her father’s work\, his legacy and find her own rhythm as she prepares to face the world without him. Nick & the Prizefighter is a play that questions who owns the stories we tell and how we share experiences across cultures. \n\nAbout the Amplify Black Voice Theatre Festival 2024:  \nBuilding on Greensboro’s rich legacy of social justice and engagement in the Civil Rights Movement\, Amplify Black Voices Festival of Greater Greensboro unites seven local college theater departments to collaboratively produce four theater performances focusing on African American lives and history. Staged at four different college theater venues in Spring 2024\, the cast and crews for each will be blended from the seven departments. After each performance\, the actors and director will return to the stage to reflect on the significance of Black lives and stories and racial inequity. Our target audience includes university/college communities\, the greater Greensboro community\, and Guilford County Public Schools.

SUMMARY:Old Time Ensemble
DESCRIPTION:DOWNLOAD PROGRAM\nDr. Christen Blanton Mack\, director \n  \n \n\nThe importance of philanthropy has never been greater. Please consider a gift to the School of Music to support our mission and ensure the future of music at UNCG. \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\nThe UNCG Old Time Ensemble performs American folk music\, focusing on the string band traditions of the North Carolina Piedmont and Southern Appalachia. The ensemble’s mission is to give students an opportunity to learn songs and tunes that have been part of North Carolina’s culture for generations. Based on the idea that oral traditions should be part of every musician’s education\, the group learns all its music by ear\, through careful listening and repetition\, the way traditional American music has been learned for centuries.
