A member of one of jazz music’s first great musical families with brothers Elvin and Hank\, he left behind a powerful legacy of heavyweight arrangements\, memorable compositions\, and groundbreaking solos. \n\nAbout the UNCG Spartan Jazz Collective\n\nThe UNCG Spartan Jazz Collective is a collaborative combo of faculty and students founded in 2012 to function in the mentorship tradition of the bands of Art Blakey\, Miles Davis\, and Horace Silver. Faculty members Steve Haines (bass)\, Thomas Heflin (trumpet)\, and Chad Eby (saxophone) mentor a rotating cast of students in bandleading\, arranging\, and rehearsal technique\, while focusing on specific jazz artists for each semester. \nThe Miles Davis Jazz Studies Program at UNCG is a unique and innovative undergraduate jazz program designed to emulate the traditional process of learning jazz\, through a combination of mentorship\, real-world playing experiences\, and a communal approach to learning. Although the program is housed in one of the largest music schools in the Southeast\, it is kept intentionally small\, resulting in an intensive and highly personalized learning environment. \n\n\n\nAudience Note\nPatrons must sit in their assigned seat. Face coverings that cover the nose and mouth are strongly encouraged\, but not required\, while inside the performance hall. Social distancing is encouraged when possible.

SUMMARY:Mozart’s “Così fan tutte” • Opera Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Tickets\n\n \n\n\n\nAdults\n$10.00\n\n\nStudents\n$5.00\n\n\n\n\n\nPURCHASE TICKETSDOWNLOAD PROGRAM\nMusic by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart\nLibretto by Lorenzo Da Ponte \n\n\n\n\nFlighty and fickle or faithful and true? Mozart poses this classic question in his famous comedic opera Così fan tutte (pronounced KOH-zee fahn TOOT-eh)\, a tale involving the misadventures of two sisters and their soldier boyfriends. For these starry-eyed young couples\, romantic illusions are given a nasty wakeup call when they decide to test the boundaries of love\, loyalty\, and friendship in a complicated game of “boys vs. girls.” \nCosì fan tutte or La scuola degli amanti (translates to “Women Are Like That” or “The School for Lovers”) marks the final collaboration between the dynamic duo of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the Italian clergyman-turned-party boy-turned-poet Lorenzo Da Ponte. Its timeless story draws on a variety of myths\, plays\, poems\, and early operas\, but also offers some unique twists on older themes of love and fidelity. \nNote courtesy of the Kennedy Center \n\n\n\n\n\nAudience Note\nPatrons must sit in their assigned seat. Face coverings that cover the nose and mouth are strongly encouraged\, but not required\, while inside the performance hall. Social distancing is encouraged when possible.
