Bob Hansen is an Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and Professor of Theatre at UNCG. He also serves as Director of the BLS Program. He has a BA from the University of Minnesota, Morris (1973) with a double major in English and Theatre; an MS in Theatre from Florida State University (1974), and a Ph.D. in Theatre from the University of Minnesota (1977). He has been on the faculty of Bowling Green State University, the Tennessee Arts Academy, and, since 1986, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. In Theatre he teaches in the areas of theatre history, dramatic literature and design. In the BLS program he has developed and taught the following courses: Eye Appeal: Spectacle on Stage and in LifeBig Plays Big IdeasThe Art of Life / the Life of ArtSenior Seminar, and Pathways: Reading & Writing in the Humanities. He is the author of Scenic and Costume Design for the Ballets Russes. Ann Arbor MI: UMI Research Press, 1985; and numerous articles and reviews that have been published in Southern TheatreTheatre Crafts, and Theatre Design and Technology. In addition to his work as a teacher, scholar and administrator, Bob has worked extensively as a theatre artist, designing sets, lights, and/or costumes for over 100 stage productions since 1972.
