Undergraduate Application

Each of UNCG’s Dance scholarships has a separate application form. See the description of each scholarship for the form link. Some scholarships are awarded based on financial need. Completion of a FAFSA is required for those awards.

Undergraduate Awards

Dr. John T. and Mary Louise Lowe Burns Memorial Scholarship in Dance and Musical Theatre

  • Undergraduate students interested in careers in dance and musical theatre
  • Merit for financial need can be the primary consideration

The Dr. John T. and Mary Louise Lowe Burns Memorial Scholarship in Dance and Musical Theatre was established with gifts from their estates. Recipients of the scholarships will be students who have demonstrated an interest in preparing for careers in dance and musical theatre.

Application

Cheney Scholarship in Dance Choreography

  • Entering or continuing full-time students majoring in Dance, with special talent for choreography within contemporary dance
  • Talented as measured by an audition given by the Dance Department
  • Minimum of 3.2 GPA
  • Financial need may be considered
  • Renewable through senior year

The Cheney Scholarship in Dance Choreography was established in 1997 with a gift from Dr. Gay Cheney, a UNCG professor in the Dance Department. Recipients are selected primarily for their choreographic potential and financial need.

Melanie Feinstein Memorial Scholarship in Dance

  • Graduate or undergraduate student majoring in Dance
  • Commitment to using dance in a context of human liberation and social justice, and whose presence will increase the racial diversity of the School
  • Financial need (file a FAFSA)

The Melanie Feinstein Memorial Scholarship in Dance was established with gifts from family, friends, and colleagues wanting the memory of a remarkable young woman to be honored in a manner reflective of the profound influence she had on their lives.

Application

Kimberly Renee Goodman Scholarship

  • Student majoring in Dance
  • Financial need (file a FAFSA)
  • Integrity and high moral character
  • Preference to students from North Carolina, particularly from Iredell County

The Kimberly Renee Goodman Scholarship was established in 1985 in memory of Ms. Goodman. Scholarships from this fund provide assistance to students majoring in Dance.

Application

Virginia Moomaw Dance Scholarship

  • Rising junior or senior majoring in Dance
  • Minimum of 3.0 GPA
  • Reliable, enthusiastic, and professional

The Virginia Moomaw Dance Scholarship was established in 1975 in honor of Virginia Moomaw. The scholarship is for undergraduates or continuing education students in the School of Dance within the College of Visual and Performing Arts.
