Vision Statement

University of North Carolina at Greensboro Dance Medicine (UNCGDM) shall provide service of the highest caliber with respect to injury prevention, evaluation, emergency care, and rehabilitation to all dance students at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). UNCGDM aspires to provide state-of-the art athletic training services to the dance students at UNCG. UNCGDM is dedicated to becoming a pioneering teaching, research, and service-oriented dance medicine program in the country.

Mission Statement

University of North Carolina at Greensboro Dance Medicine is committed to providing superb athletic training services to the Dance Department at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. UNCGDM offers comprehensive athletic training health care through prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of individuals with injuries. UNCGDM expects all Certified Athletic Trainers (ATCs) providing services to the program to maintain quality standards consistent with the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) Code of Professional Practice and the credentialing status of the state of North Carolina.

UNCGDM is committed to educating dance students about health management strategies to help them lead fuller, injury-free lives. UNCGDM is responsible for identifying and correcting potential harmful situations and faulty mechanics of dance students. With the aid of the Dance Department faculty, the UNCGDM is also responsible for educating and monitoring dance students on nutrition, supplementation, and alcohol, tobacco, and drug abuse. UNCGDM maintains a close relationship with the UNCG Dance Department, Department of Kinesiology, the UNCG Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP), and UNCG Student Health Services.

UNCGDM pursues a path of continuous introspection and reevaluation to remain competent of the latest developments in the field of dance medicine. UNCGDM strives to generate new knowledge through research to improve the quality of the education and health care services provided.
