Dr. Larry Lavender is Professor of Interdisciplinary Arts in the College of Visual and Performing Arts, and Faculty Fellow in the Lloyd International Honors College. Larry’s areas of teaching specialization are Creativity theories and practices, Dance Appreciation, Performance Art, and Human/Animal relations in the arts. He is co-founder and choreographic mentor for the Montreal Danse Choreography Research Project, and has taught, lectured, and published extensively both in the US and abroad. Larry’s recent essay, “The Emancipation of Improvisation,” is forthcoming in the Oxford Handbook of Improvisation in Dance.
