Summer Arts and Design Intensive logo 24The School of Art at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro is excited to announce the 11th year of the Summer Arts and Design Intensive program. This summer, we will be offering a one-week-long residential art program that will accept up to 100 young artists. The studio program will cover various art forms including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, photography, graphic design, and animation.

The student artists participating in the 2024 Summer Arts and Design Intensive will be mentored by the artist faculty of the UNCG School of Art. Furthermore, the SADI staff will include experienced art educators, professional artists, and UNCG art education preservice teachers, all of whom will collaborate to provide top-notch guidance to each student and help them embark on a distinctive creative path.

During SADI, students can participate in faculty-led studio sessions, which combine traditional techniques with contemporary experimentation to help them reach their full potential. Additionally, there will be enrichment activities such as artist talks, visits to the Weatherspoon Art Museum, and a career seminar related to the arts. As a longstanding tradition, SADI concludes with a student art exhibition at the Gatewood Gallery in the School of Art building. This exhibition is open to campers, their families, and friends on Friday afternoon, the last day of camp.

The application process for the UNCG Summer Arts and Design Intensive is entirely online this year. If you are a parent or guardian applying for your child, please note that the application must be completed by you. Also, please be aware that only a laptop or desktop computer can be used to complete the registration. Once you’ve submitted the application, it will take two weeks for the process to be completed. You’ll know that the registration is complete once you receive a confirmation email.
