This first museum survey of the artist's prolific career features work from 1967 to the present. Fishman employs the formal language of Abstract Expressionism to create large-scale gestural paintings that share the physicality, dynamism, and emotional power of that movement, without its bravado. Although most would agree that time is a concept by which we simultaneously grasp the past by memory, the present by attention, and the future by expectation, thoughts about this notion are varied and multifaceted.
