How Can I Help the most?


Each year the College of Visual and Performing Arts awards over $260,000 in scholarships to talented artists who become future artists, educators, choreographers, designers, musicians, performers. At the UNCG College of Visual and Performing Arts awards scholarships, solely on merit, thus enabling the School to attract and nurture the finest young scholars and performers. Too often, especially at the graduate level, talented students are forced to bypass the UNCG College of Visual and Performing Arts to go to a school or conservatory that can offer them more lucrative awards. Generous talent-based scholarships and fellowships help UNCG recruit these gifted and creative individuals, students who inspire their peers, challenge their professors and mentors, and add immeasurably to the school's artistic environment.

Program Support

The College of Visual and Performing Arts endeavors to ensure that its tradition of supporting innovations and programs continues long into the future. Program support allows the School to fund the core departmental needs of faculty while also providing necessary money for new discoveries and priorities. program enhancements such as: guest artists, artists-in residence, student travel for competition purposes, ensemble travel and touring, opera production, chamber music, and the Miles Davis Jazz Studies Program to name a few.

The College of Visual and Performing Arts offers more than 300 public performances per year, ranging from solo recitals to collaborative productions that include a variety of combinations across Music, Theatre and Dance.

UNCG is a top destination in the Piedmont for high-quality performing arts, and the University is proud to have three distinct membership organizations that provide patrons with convenient ways to offer support and receive valuable benefits. Examples of benefits are: multiple performance tickets, behind-the-scenes events, meet-the-artist events, receptions and pre-performance dinners.

Each organization has a mission to promote the performing arts at UNCG and to provide financial support to enhance student scholarships, educational programs and teaching resources.

Musical Arts Guild

The Musical Arts Guild is proud of its important association with UNCG College of Visual and Performing Arts. For more almost 50 years, members have invested in the lives of gifted and deserving student musicians and faculty at UNCG. Membership is open to anyone who wishes to participate.

Members are music lovers and patrons, friends and supporters of UNCG music students, as well as alumni from our nationally recognized music programs. Through their contributions, MAG members provide much-needed discretionary resources. In recent years, MAG contributions have supported students traveling to competitions and professional conferences, the purchase of specialty instruments, enhancements to practice facilities, and upgrades for state of the art classrooms.

Every year, several students are awarded merit and need-based scholarship funds through the Musical Arts Guild. As a membership benefit, you will have the opportunity to attend special concerts, recitals and receptions throughout the year.
